The kinetics of the liquid-phase hydrogenation of benzene on a platinum catalyst is described by an equation similar to that established earlier for the kinetics of the hydrogenation of benzene derivatives but which takes into account the difference in adsorbability of the substance being hydrogenated and the reaction product.
