Title: Electrical power systems (Colombia). Portable/stationary electrical power generators, April 1992. Export trade information

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7003759

The Colombian electric power sector is confronting a critical situation due to poor planning and administration, labor problems, a very high foreign debt, lack of maintenance of the thermoelectric generation system, and a longer than expected nation wide drought. The unusual circumstances which Colombia is facing have sparked an extraordinary demand for portable and stationary electric power generation sets of all types (mainly gasoline and diesel) and emergency lighting systems. Imports of this type of equipment are expected to increase by 150 percent in 1992 in relation to the US $36.9 million imported in 1991.
