Electrical power systems (Brazil). Electric power generation and distribution equipment, June 1991. Export trade information
The analysis assesses the Brazilian market for electric power generation and distribution equipment. It focuses primarily on turbines, transformers, switchgear and power circuit breakers, generator sets, wire and cable, as well as other equipment and materials normally used for the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power. In 1989, this market in Brazil reached $1.6 billion, a 13% decrease from 1988. Of this total, it is estimated that 20% was supplied by imports, of which 23%, or $71 million, was U.S.-origin equipment. In 1990, the Brazilian market for electric power generation and distribution equipment is expected to decrease further to about $1.4 billion. Foreign imports are expected to account for $319 million, of which 23% will be supplied once again by U.S. manufacturers.
