This paper describes a power supply and current and power regulators for an argon laser. A block diagram of the system is shown. In designing the circuit, principal attention was given to maximizing the frequency ranges of the discharge-current and power regulation rings. The high-frequency ring, when regulating discharge current according to negative feedback (NFB) signal from a current sensor, has a frequency range of 0-200 kHz and a static gain of 2.10/sup 5/. The residual root-mean-square fluctuations of discharge current and radiation power are 0.02% and 0.4%. When regulating radiation power according to an NFB signal from a photodetector, the high-frequency ring has a frequency range of 0-30 kHz and a static gain of 3.10/sup 4/. The residual root-mean-square fluctuations of radiation power are 0.02%. The electrical efficiency of the system is 98%. The range of continuous current adjustment is 50-400 A.
