This paper describes a commutator designed for connection of one of 64 inputs by means of external control signals. The device has two operating modes: sequential connection of channels by clock signals and arbitrary connection of channels according to a 6-bit binary code. The input-signal range is -5 to +5 V, switching time is less than or equal to 2.5 microsec, the maximum switchable current is 5 mA, the switching elements are RMOS-transistor integrated circuits, the input resistance is 180 k-omega, and the transmission coefficient is 0.99. The leakage current of a cut-off channel is not over 50 nA. The control signal noise at the output is ca 100 mV for a noise-pulse duration of less than or equal to 2 microsec.
