Risk-based waste classification in California
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:698694
In the state of California, the management of wastes considered potentially hazardous is first regulated by the state in compliance with the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). For wastes that are not regulated under RCRA as hazardous, the state uses an additional classification system to determine whether such wastes pose a threat to human health and the environment. This report focuses on a new approach proposed for use in California to classify wastes that are not considered to be hazardous wastes under RCRA.
