This Symposium on Surface Mining and Fish/Wildlife Needs in the Eastern United States explores the relationships between mining and fish and wildlife. The information provided by the mining industry, conservation groups, and state and federal agencies will alter you to each groups concerns. Working cooperatively you can establish a framework to take full advantage of opportunities presented by PL 95-87, especially those that will benefit the fish and wildlife resources. This paper reviews the impacts and resources of surface mining activities on wildlife.
