The environmental contamination on-site consists of ethylbenzene, bis-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, toluene, xylene, polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic, chromium, lead, and nickel in soil; ethylbenzene, arsenic, mercury, nickel, cadmium, and zinc in surface water; ethylbenzene, toluene, bis-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic, chromium, lead, and nickel in sediment; and 1,1,1-trichlorethane, vinyl chloride, isophorone, benzene, trans-1,2-dichloroethylene, trichloroethylene, xylenes, arsenic, nickel, and lead in leachate. Based on the available information, the site is considered to be of potential public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the possibility of exposure to hazardous substances.
