Acid-rain clouds over the Midwest: Impacts on waters
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:6979381
Water is a valuable and renewable resource but also a vulnerable resource. The present seasonal and geographical patterns of emissions and reaction products from fuel (coal, oil and natural gas) combustion increase from west to east across the Midwest and produce a gradient of increasing acidity in precipitation, averaging from pH 4.3 in Michigan to pH 5.3 in Minnesota.
