The present conference on contemporary environmental issues encompasses the Clean Air Act, the evaluation of coatings for aerospace applications, the impact of RCRA on the aerospace industry, the environmental impact of ocean energy-resource development, adsorption systems for the control of aerospace industry solvent air emissions, and waterborne adhesive bond primers. Specific issues addressed include the exposure of humans to composite fibrils, the development of environmentally friendly adhesive bonding primers, test methods to evaluate water-based chemical mill maskant, a low VOC primer for structural bonding, and anodizing and priming treatments for aluminum. Also addressed are nonchromated anodizing processes for corrosion resistance and adhesive bonding, VOC compliance through paint reformulation, the precision cleaning of metals, and risk management and prevention.
