Utilities must develop marketing expertise

Electric utilities have embarked on a new wave of marketing that emphasizes customer satisfaction through choice and value received and company profitability. Marketing in most companies is reactive when it should be ''pro-active,'' and senior management has relatively little involvement in setting broad strategy. Regulatory involvement early in program development is encouraged. 2 tables.
