Strategic marketing and demand-side management at CP and L
An overview of the Carolina Power and Light Company (CP and L) program of strategic marketing and demand-side management describes the preliminary steps of organizing and staffing the program as well as establishing goals and procedures for its implementation. Four key factors that dominate the current marketing situation were the existence of adequate generating capacity, the expectation of higher fixed costs and rates, continued economic growth of the service area, and competition for customers' energy dollars. The marketing plan set out to increase customer satisfaction and employee involvement, as well as to increase company profitability. Three load shape goals include load shifting, valley filling, and strategic load growth.
