Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of perpendicular magnetic Nd-Fe-Co and Pr-Fe amorphous films

Journal Article · · IEEE Trans. Magn.; (United States)
Perpendicularly magnetized amorphous Pr/sub x/Fe/sub 100-x/ films were successfully fabricated by r.f. sputtering for 30less than or equal toxless than or equal to60. The dependence of the Curie temperature T/sub c/ on Pr content is in accordance with that of the melt-spun samples, except for x larger than 50. The change in K/sub u/ with temperature of Pr-Fe films is similar to that in Nd-Fe-Co, and there seems to be a transition in anisotropy mode from uniaxial to conical. The dependence of polar Kerr rotation angle O/sub k/ on wavelength in Pr-Fe and Nd-Fe-Co films suggests a contribution of Nd and Pr to the magneto-optical effect.
