Selective anodic dissolution of cadmium-nickel alloys in KOH solutions

Journal Article · · Sov. Electrochem. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6967923
The authors use chronoamperometry, potentiometry, and x-ray phase analysis to determine the effect of nickel on the selective dissolution of cadmium-nickel alloys serving as anodes in alkaline storage batteries with potassium hydroxide solutions serving as electrolytes. The dissolution and oxidation kinetics are discussed from the standpoints of corrosion and phase behavior and of the concentration of nickel in the alloy.
