In accordance with its contract with the U.S. Trade and Development Program (TDP), CORE International, Inc. formed a Definitional Mission team to evaluate the prospects of TDP funding feasibility studies that would assist the Government of Czechoslovakia in improving the electrical generating system in the country. The Definitional Mission team consisted of CORE International's President, Mr. Vinod K. Shrivastava as the Mission Leader and Mr. John Paparelli, Senior Power Plant Specialist. CORE International, Inc. was provided all the background material by TDP. The material along with other documents provided by in-country officials formed the basis for discussions with the various Czechoslovakian officials. Although the main focus of the definitional mission was to assess proposed projects in the power sector, the government also proposed several other projects for TDP's consideration. The two key projects in the power sector included -- (1) Coal Fired Power Plant Modernization Study, and (2) Repowering and Rehabilitation Study for the Vojany Power Station.
