Reactivity of C/sub 6/ - C/sub 8/ alkanes in forming alkylthiophenes and aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of H/sub 2/S on a Cr-containing catalyst
This paper compares the heterocyclizing and dehydrocyclizing properties of a Cr-containing catalyst in the presence of H/sub 2/S in relation to the chain length of n-alkane containing 6-8 C atoms. Initial hydrocarbons were chromatographically pure n-hexane, n-heptane, and n-octane, H/sub 2/S contained 98-99% of principal substance. Under the conditions chosen a high yield of liquid catalyzate is achieved. On a Cr-containing catalyst the formation of aromatic hydrocarbons and alkylthhiophenes proceeds via a common dehydrogenation stage. Together with heterocyclization, dehydrocyclization also occurs. On changing from n-hexane to n-heptane and to n-octane the yield of dehydrocyclization products increases.
