Reserves of gas owned by interstate pipelines are declining, but at a slower rate than in recent years, according to the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). A FERC report based on 1976 statistics indicates that the pipelines' domestic reserves declined from 106.8 trillion cu ft in 1975 to 98.3 trillion in 1976. A preliminary report shows a decline to 96 trillion cu ft in 1977. Reserves dropped by 63 trillion cu ft, or 39%, between 1972-76.
