Large-eddy simulation of a new subgrid-scale model in turbulent crossflow
- Texas A M Univ., College Station, TX (United States)
Progress is turbulence simulation translates nearly immediately into a wide range of engineering applications and technological advances that affect many aspects of everyday life. Turbulence simulations are now regularly performed in simple geometries, and extensive data bases of flow fields have been constructed for the analysis of turbulent flows. Simulations of turbulent flows in prototype complex geometries are only now emerging. The objective of this study is to provide practical applications of the large-eddy simulation (LES) technique to turbulent flow by using a new subgrid-scale (SGS) model. The results of the investigation are compared with experimental findings as well as numerical results obtained by the eddy viscosity SGS model.
