This paper presents a determination of the composition of ions formed in solutions of boron trifluoride in analogous solvents and compares these data with those obtained earlier. The ionization processes of boron trifluoride ether complexes formed by diethyl, dipropyl, and dibutyl ethers were investigated. The results of the investigation of electromigration are presented. In solutions of boron trifluoride in dipropyl and dibutyl ethers the solvate envelopes contain additionally boron trifluoride, the mole fraction of which increases with the lengthening of the hydrocarbon groups (BF/sub 2/.2E)/sup +/mBF/sub 3/EnBF/sub 3/, (BF/sub 4/)-mBF/sub 3/EnBF/sub 3/. In the case of aluminum halides the equilibrium is shifted toward the formation of complexes because of the high affinity of aluminum for oxygen. As the affinity diminishes in solutions of gallium and indium bromides, the equilibrium is shifted somewhat toward the formation of the dimers M/sub 2/Hal/sub 6/.
