Hydrogenolysis of 2,2-dimethylbutane and n-hexane over supported ruthenium, nickel, cobalt, and iron

Journal Article · · J. Catal.; (United States)
Hydrogenolysis of 2,2-dimethylbutane and n-hexane over supported ruthenium, nickel, cobalt, and iron was studied with the same catalysts as used for the 2,3-dimethylbutane hydrogenolysis and selectivity equations were derived by the same method. Neopentane was the main product from 2,2-dimethylbutane on all catalysts, and it was very stable on all catalysts. The activities decreased in the order Ru, Co, Ni, Fe for both 2,2-dimethylbutana and n-hexane, and the yield of smaller molecules increased in the order Ru, Ni, Co, Fe.
