Capital investments of the world petroleum industry: 1976. [Monograph]
The petroleum industry's worldwide capital investments, excluding the Communist-bloc nations, are compiled for three decades, from 1946 to 1976. In 1946 the industry's capital expenditures totaled $2.7 billion worldwide. In the years following, moderate year-to-year increases were generally recorded, until 1973, when outlays reached the $30-billion level for the first time in a single year. In 1976 the petroleum industry's capital investments amounted to $56.7 billion. Thus, the growth in the last three years has equaled the growth of the 1946 to 1973 period. Nearly two-fifths of the 1976 expenditure of $56.7 billion occurred in the United States. Some statistical data are presented pertaining to 1976, and the ten years preceding 1976. (MCW)
