Petroleum industry investments in the Eighties
The 1983 edition of this report provides an in-depth analysis of the non-Communist petroleum industry's capital expenditures through 1990, updated to include actual 1980 and 1981 results and to be consistent with the current best estimate oil price forecast and its impact on industry cash flow and return on E and P investment expectations. The analysis includes regional forecasts of investment needs in exploration and production, refining, petrochemicals, transportation, and marketing. Based on these investment needs, the non-Communist world petroleum industry's credit market requirements are forecast. In addition, the report focuses in detail on the US petroleum industry's projected source and use of funds. It also examines the impact of an OPEC oil price collapse scenario on capital investment and credit market requirements. The scenario used involves an $8 per barrel drop in the marker crude price to $26 per barrel in the second quarter of 1983.
