OSTI ID:6923569
Recent advances in laser technology are discussed in reviews and reports, with an emphasis on high-average-power solid-state and gas lasers. Topics addressed include the laser characteristics of Nd:BEL, a high-average-power Nd:YAG slab laser, heat transfer and wavefront distortion in a gas-cooled disk amplifier, and ground-state-depleted solid-state lasers. Particular attention is given to polarization control of diode-pumped Nd:YAG by external fields, an ultrahigh-brightness XeCl laser, a high-power induction FEL, 10-TW/sq cm focusability of a glass laser, and large-signal theory for frequency mixing in diode-pumped Q-switched systems.
