A software system for laser design and analysis, a database for solid-state laser, optical, and nonlinear materials, and solid-state laser reliability, producibility, and maintenance issues for X-ray lithography applications are presented, along with materials for high-power second-harmonic generation and lasers on the basis of double molybdates and tungstates. Monolithic unidirectional planar ring oscillators, a laser-diode-pumped tunable solid-state laser, diode-array side-pumped Nd:YLiF4 laser, and Q-switched Nd:YAG ring laser pumped by laser diodes are covered. High-power and tunable lasers including solid-state lasers for reproducing picosecond and femtosecond light pulses and a fully stabilized single-frequency Ti:Al2O3 laser oscillator are reviewed. Close-coupled pumping of an intracavity-doubled lithium neodymium tetraphosphate laser is discussed, and multiwavelength upconversion lasers in fluoride crystals are outlined.
