Natural Gas Pipe Line Co. is working over 19 depleted wells in the N. Lansing field in Gregg County, Texas, to store natural gas. Ford, Bacon and Davis Construction Co. is prime contractor to install about 31.74 miles of pipeline to move the gas, and meter runs to the 19 wells in which it will be injected into storage formations. The project is quite similar to a gas gathering system, or grid, except flow and pressure are reversed. Ford, Bacon and Davis is installing about 76,600 ft of 30-in. pipe from NGPLC main transmission line to a high pressure compressor station. The 30-in. will operate under regular line pressure. From the compressor station, 20-, 12-, 10-, 8-, and 6-in. pipe will move the gas to the injection wells, using pressure of about 3,200 psig. How the line and other pipeline equipment was constructed is decribed.
