Heavy wall injection gas line laid to storage field

Since the first underground gas storage field was put in service almost 60 yr ago, capacities of such facilities in 26 states have reached 6 trillion cu ft. According to the American Gas Association, there are 367 natural gas storage reservoirs, involving about $2 billion investment in facilities and cushion gas. Natural Gas Pipe Line Co. and contractors are about ready to bring the total up to 368. The company is working over 19 depleted wells in the N. Lansing field in Gregg County, Texas, to store natural gas. Ford, Bacon and Davis Construction Co. is prime contractor to install about 31.74 miles of pipeline to move the gas and the meter runs to the 19 wells in which it will be injected into storage formations. Details of the project are described.
