The authors describe an electrolytic technique for the implantation of oxygen and chlorine anions into zinc sulfide monocrystals and analyze the phase behavior and diffusion of the anions and impurity color centers in the lattice as well as the activating effect of the anions on the photoluminescence of the crystals. A comparative study is done for a zinc sulfide-copper crystal.
