Acid stimulation has been used successfully in the Mystery Creek leases in the TR field, Fryburg zone of the Mission Canyon formation in western North Dakota. The Fryburg zone is a carbonate reservoir consisting of alternating layers of limestone and dolomite. Since 1982, the Fryburg wells have undergone an acid-stimulation program that has resulted in substantial increases in oil and gas production.
