The generalization of the harmonic formalism of Galperin, Ivanov, Kalitzin, Ogievetskii, and Sokachev to the case of the D = 6, N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theory SYM/sup 1//sub 6/ is considered. The solution of the superfield constraints of SYM/sup 1//sub 6/ is obtained in an analytic representation. The SYM/sup 1//sub 6/ action is expressed in the form of an integral over the full superspace and the harmonic variables. The spontaneous breaking of the symmetry and the nontrivial dimensional reduction of SYM/sup 1//sub 6/ to four-dimensional superfield theories with central charges and massive gauge fields are discussed. The formulation of the extended D = 6, N = 2 supergauge theory in D = 6, N = 1 harmonic superspace is considered. Different harmonic interpretations of the ten-dimensional theory SYM/sup 1//sub 10/ are suggested.
