Throttle valve control apparatus for an engine

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6896748

A throttle valve control apparatus for an engine is described comprising: air-fuel ratio changing means for changing an air-fuel ratio of a gas mixture supplied to the engine based on a predetermined condition; a throttle valve arranged in an intake passage of the engine; throttle valve driving means for driving the throttle valve; accelerator position detecting means for detecting the opening or position of an accelerator; target throttle opening determining means for determining a target throttle opening based on a throttle opening characteristic corresponding to the air-fuel ratio of the gas mixture from throttle opening characteristic associated so as to allow the throttle opening to be larger with respect to an identical accelerator opening when the air-fuel ratio represents a lean gas mixture than when it represents a rich gas mixture, by receiving outputs from the air-fuel ratio changing means and the accelerator position detecting means; and drive control means for controlling the throttle valve driving means so as to set an opening of the throttle valve to be the target throttle opening determined by the target throttle opening determining means.
