Cities Service Oil Co. and the Energy Research and Development Administration are conducting a test to demonstrate the feasibility of recovering additional oil by the micellar-polymer flooding technique in the El Dorado field of Butler County, Kansas. This study provides background history and describes the operating facilities used for the project. The El Dorado Micellar-Polymer Demonstration Project was designed to allow a side-by-side comparison of 2 different micellar-polymer processes in the same field so that reservoir conditions would be similar. The plant facilities were designed to allow the flexibility needed to handle the 2 micellar-polymer processes simultaneously.
