Raman scattering spectra of superconducting Bi/sub 2/Sr/sub 2/CaCu/sub 2/O/sub 8/ single crystals

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
Raman spectra of Bi/sub 2/Sr/sub 2/CaCu/sub 2/O/sub 8/ single crystals with superconducting phase-transition temperature of 90 K have been studied. The spectra contained phonon lines and electronic continuum. Phonon energies and polarization selection rules were measured. A gap in the electronic continuum spectrum was observed in a superconducting state. Noticeable similarity between Raman spectra of Bi/sub 2/Sr/sub 2/CaCu/sub 2/O/sub 8/ and YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ was found.
