Analysis of economic effects of accelerated deregulation of natural gas prices

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6887123
An analysis of some of the economic effects that might result from deregulation of the wellhead prices of natural gas in 1982, rather than according to the schedule provided for by the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978, are examined. In particular, the impact that accelerated deregulation can be expected to have on natural gas prices, consumption, and supply; and the implications of these effects on oil and gas imports, consumer expenditures, the inflation rate, and real Gross National Product are provided. The appendixes give projected data on supply, consumption by sector, prices, and producer revenue according to cases reflecting varying policies. 52 tables, 9 figures.
