The utility industry's efforts to abide by Environmental Protection Agency rules covering polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) include a retrofill option for transformers and replacement of both transformers and capacitors and a field instrument for measuring PCB levels. The update covers ways the industry is coping with storage, spill cleanup and other regulatory problems; research efforts on PCB risk analysis, and new PCB literature. 3 figures.
