High-T/sub c/ superconductivity in regions of possible compound formation: Y/sub 2-//sub x/Ba/sub x/CuO/sub 4-//sub x//sub /2+//sub delta/ and Y/sub 2-//sub x/Ba/sub 1+//sub x/Cu/sub 2/O/sub 6-//sub x//sub /2+//sub delta/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
High-T/sub c/ superconductivity is investigated in the Y-Ba-Cu-O system. Regions of possible compound formation are Y/sub 2-//sub x/Ba/sub x/CuO/sub 4-//sub x//sub /2+//sub delta/ and Y/sub 2-//sub x/Ba/sub 1+//sub x/Cu/sub 2/O/sub 6-//sub x//sub /2+//sub delta/. T/sub c/ values >90 K are found for the former with x = 0.8 (the Chu material) and for the latter with x = 0.2 and may imply a common superconductivity phase in both samples. Critical fields determined by resistance and low-field d/sub c/ susceptibility measurements are reported.
