Switching of extra high voltage circuits: design of air blast circuit breakers
Journal Article

· IEEE Trans. Power Appar. Syst.; (United States)
The General Electric line of outdoor air blast circuit breakers is described for ratings through 700 kV; breakers, which are an extension of existing 115 to 345 kV line, are of modular construction and include resistors for preinsertion during circuit closing to minimize switching surges. Other design features discussed include live-tank design and use of interrupters in series, and control system of circuit breakers.
