Specifications for the PBX-based digital telecommunications system
This technical memorandum contains the requirements of Argonne National Laboratory for a PBX-based digital telecommunications system, DTS. The Technical Specification was incorporated as part of the solicitations for proposals for a new DTS which was sent to prospective vendors on June 15, 1984. Argonne National Laboratory has issued a Request for Proposals for the acquisition and installation of a PBX-Based Digital Telecommunications System (DTS). The system will serve Argonne National Laboratory and the Department of Energy at the Argonne, Illinois, site, where it will replace the present Centrex telephone service that Illinois Bell Telephone Company now provides. The new system will provide cost-effective telephone service and will greatly improve voice and data communications. Argonne is asking potential vendors to propose the replacement of the current telephone system, as well as the installation of an entirely new inside and outside wire and cable plant. The combination of the two will allow a substantial increase in the quality and control of voice and data communications at the Laboratory.
