Radioactive fallout: Annual progress report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6864335
Measurements of the contents of Sr/sup 89/, Sr/sup 90/, Ba/sup 140/, Ce/sup 141/ and Ce/sup 144/ in individual rain samples are being continued at Fayetteville, Arkansas. The isotope ratio data seem to reveal an interesting pattern of the effect of chemical fractionation of the fission products in the atmosphere, and a preliminary interpretation of the data is presented in this report. Studies on the behaviors of the fission products Tc/sup 99/, Zr/sup 95/, Ru/sup 103/, Ru/sup 106/ and Pm/sup 147/ are in progress and some of the preliminary results are presented in this report. Sr/sup 90/ concentrations in individual samples of rain and snow collected at Fayetteville, Arkansas, since 1958, are given.
