Ozone and sulfur dioxide synergism: foliar injury to a ponderosa pine geographic race plantation in the Puget Sound region

Journal Article · · Plant Dis. Rep.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6863518

Chlorotic spotting was observed on the foliage of a stand of ponderosa pine near La Grande, Washington, about 65 miles south of Seattle. Differences were noted with respect to the air pollution damage on each of ten geographic races in the stand. It has been hypothesized that a possible ozone-sulfur dioxide synergism may be responsible for the damage, which has the outward appearance of ozone mottling observed in the San Bernardino National Forest near Los Angeles, California.
