Preparation and properties of fluorine-doped Nd sub 2 CuO sub 4-y superconductors

Details of the synthesis, characterization, and superconductivity of fluorine-doped Nd{sub 2}CuO{sub 4-y} are reported. Speculations are made on the likely substitutional site for fluorine and the possibilities of beneficially extending fluorination to other high-T{sub C} compounds.
