Doublet splitting and the low-field evolution of the real squashing modes in superfluid /sup 3/He-B

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
We consider the effects of textures on the collective-mode spectrum of /sup 3/He. Our result for the frequency splitting of the real-squashing-mode doublet agrees well with the measurements of Shivaram et al. The smooth disappearance of the doublet and the nonlinear evolution of the real-squashing-mode frequencies at low magnetic fields are explained in terms of a crossover to the dispersion-dominated regime when (qv/sub F/)/sup 2//..delta..>..gamma..H.
