Passive solar aids in energy savings

Research on passive solar design options for commercial buildings is described. The principal passive solar techniques adopted were a combination of daylighting and solar controls through south-facing windows and a clerestory. The resulting design achieved a balance of daylighting and passive solar gain in winter with requirements to shade the window glass in summer.
