Olefins and gasoline shaping future of NGL's

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6848731
The near-term future of NGL's will be influenced strongly by recent and anticipated changes in gasoline characteristics and by petrochemical production. The profitability of gas processing is primarily a function of the spread between NGL prices and the cost of the natural gas from which NGL's are extracted. NGL prices are set by competition with prices for premium refined products in the petrochemical, fuel, and motor gasoline markets. Therefore, in order to analyze the economics of gas processing, an evaluation must first be made of crude oil and refined-product prices, NGL prices, and natural gas costs.
