Long term overview of U.S. NGL demand and supply trends
- Petral Worldwide, Inc., Houston, TX (United States)
This paper presents Petral Worldwide`s long term outlook for US natural gas liquid supplies and demand. NGLs are consumed as feedstocks or fuels in three primary end uses including (1) petrochemicals production, (2) motor gasoline blendstocks, and (3) space heating markets. Natural gas liquids (NGLs) are produced by gas plants and refineries. Long term trends in gas plant NGL production depend on the outlook for natural gas production. Natural gas demand, in turn, is the primary determinant for natural gas production. Long term trends in refinery production of liquefied petroleum gases (LPGs) depend primarily on trends in overall refinery crude throughput rates and motor gasoline production. The use of NGLs for petrochemicals production depends primarily on ethylene demand trends. This paper also provides highlights of Petral Worldwide`s long term ethylene production forecast. This paper focuses on supply and demand trends for ethane, propane, normal butane, isobutane, and natural gasoline.
