Influence of oven width on coke quality

Comparative data are presented on the quality of coke made in wide and ordinary coke ovens (450 and 407 mm). Together with operating experience at Kuznetsk, they show that wide ovens give no marked improvement in coke quality over PK ovens of width 407 mm. New batteries constructed in Eastern plants should be standardized on the 410 mm width.
