An overview is presented of the selection, design, operation, and maintenance of air pollution control equipment. The primary intent of the authors, however, is to discuss operation and maintenance topics. Absorbers, adsorbers, incinerators, condensers, mechanical collectors, baghouses, wet scrubbers, electrostatic precipitators, flue gas desulfurization systems, and stacks are discussed from the standpoint of design procedure, installation, operation, maintenance, and improvement of performance.
