Method for measuring thermal neutron flux by radioactivation techniques - aproved 1973

Book ·
OSTI ID:6832692
A general procedure for measuring an unknown thermal neutron flux by neutron activation techniques is defined. Three thermal neutron activation procedures are detailed: cobalt method; standard foil technique using pure gold; and secondary standard foil techniques using pure indium-aluminum alloy, and dysprosium-aluminum alloy. The techniques presented are limited to measurements at room temperature, but special problems in high-temperature environments are discussed. The useful neutron-flux ranges for each detector material are listed.
