Recent world fossil fuel and primary energy production and consumption trends

Book ·
OSTI ID:6826147
This compilation of worldwide fossil-fuel and primary-electricity production statistics for 1972, 1976-79, and 1980-81 is based on the data published by several agencies. The total production for all the fuels showed no tendency to level off or decline until recently; preliminary data indicate a 7-8% drop in crude-oil production in 1981 from 1980. Data for other fuels in 1981 are scarce. Gross natural gas production estimated through 1981 is 67-70 trillion CF/yr; the volume marketed in 1980 was 52.6 TCF. Sources of data for worldwide natural gas production and consumption include the United Nations, the US Department of Energy, Eurostat (Statistical Office of the European Economic Communities), British Petroleum Co., Ltd., the journal Oil and Energy Trends, and the US Central Intelligence Agency. Although the data generally agree overall, some major differences exist among individual countries as well as in the manner of reporting.
