A discussion, which emphasizes mainly production, on the activities of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. includes its ownership of a 15,000 bbl/day refinery at Umm el-Nar, which is inadequate for the country's needs; start of construction by Snamprogetti S.p.A. of a 120,000 bbl/day refinery at Ruwais, for which startup is expected in 1981 and which will produce 35,000 bbl/day fuel oil, 16,000 bbl/day of jet fuel, and 15,000 bbl/day of gasoline; its 40Vertical Bar3< stake in a 40,000 bbl/day refinery at Multan, Pakistan, and 48Vertical Bar3< share in a 910 ton/day ammonia and 220 ton/day urea plant, also at Multan; construction by Zakum Development Co. of a new tanker loading terminal (and connecting pipelines) on Zirku Island to handle crude from the Zakum field, since the Das Island terminal cannot be expanded; problems with the Das Island LNG plant of Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co.
