Ekofisk-to-Emden gas line international affair
The final few miles miles of the 220-mile, 34-in. crude-oil line from the Phillips Group's Ekofisk field in Norwegian North Sea waters to Teesside, Engl. has just been completed. Now the only major pipeline project left to tie in the field is an equally difficult, larger, heavier gas pipeline connecting Ekofisk with gas-treating facilities at Emden, Ger. The development plant for the Ekofisk field is as follows: (1) When permanent production facilities are completed this summer, the temporary platform will be removed. Development drilling from the permanent platforms in the field, now underway will continue. (2) As production increases until late 1974, oil production will be loaded on tankers or stored in the concrete storage tank. (3) When the crude pipeline to Teesside is operational late this year, unstabilize crude will be piped ashore. (4) When stabilization facilities are complete at Teesside in early 1976, gas deliveries to Emden will begin. (5) Until gas delivery by pipeline begins, produced gas will be reinjected into the reservoir.
